Sparco Bar + Throttle Cable = High Idle Issues

Well...I have a Sparco Strut Bar on my 325is and recently I've discovered that the throttle cable gets obstructed somewhat and it results in a high idle (at 1,500-2k RPM).

Are there any modifications that anyone has done to relieve this issue?

I can't imagine there being more than one way to set this up. Any help appreciated! Thanks!

    go under the bar!

take the bar off and put it over the throttle cable. simple fix

if it still is ideling high, then you might have other issues such as IAC or just need to adjust the linkage itself.

has the bar been on a while and now recently acting up?

If nothign else works I'd try making spacers for the bar and see if you can raise it a few cm's to let the cable go under it.

I've had the bar on the car for about two months. I've had it under & over the bar, the problem goes away at first, then randomly pops up.

Just wondering if there is another type of throttle cable that would work for me.

ok then obviously its not a matter of the bar. check to see if there is anything holding the linkage from smooth movement. is it adjusted or have to played with it? what about your Idel air control? i had a bad IAC and a TPS on my M3, that caused sparatic proplems.

The problem is definitely caused by the Sparco not allowing the cable to comfortable release back. I need to toy around it when I have some time to discover the problem.

The ICV & TPS are fine.

Little bit of grease on the cables every once in a while? Or just find some harder plastic to use as a "buffer" to keep the cable moving freely. On both the bar and the cable. Does that make sense?

I can't imagine there being more than those two ways of setting it up either. Tons of us are using the bar without idle problems. Toy with your throttle mechanism instead of the bar.

Or you could bent the metal tab that holds the plastic up or down depending.... Also, isn't your throttle cable going under the bar in that pic? The one going over is your cruise right?

See...my throttle cable is already UNDER the bar. I thought the cable going OVER the bar is my cruise control. But then again, when I screw around the cable thats going over the bar, I hear my idle bounce.

I screwed around with it for about an hour and what pisses me off is that something so simple is confusing the f*ck out of me.

Yes, that is your cruise cable. But it is attached to your throttle, just like your throttle cable, so of course it will open the throttle a bit when you play with it.

Have you ever had your cruise cable bind with that setup? I'd be a bit weary with it like that. I had my cruise stick once, and that wasn't very cool.

Hey dipshit I told you it is your cc cable acting up , hell even with the Sparco removed you would still have the same problems .
