    Info on purchasing an E30

hey guys, i'm considering buying an e30. i've always loved the body lines of the car and rwd is a huge plus. If i do purchase one i would eventually like to do an M50 swap, does it matter which model e30 i buy or are certain models easier for the swap. I just wanna make sure i start out on the right foot. thanx

If you are going to do a swap, get a 318iS. They are cheaper, and are well setup to handle a swap (lighter weight, good suspension, etc).

Besides, it gives you time to save money on gas prior to getting 5mpg when you redline your M50 from every stoplight :-D
My mountains are better than yours.

from my experience, 318iS's usually demand more of a premium then 325i/iS's.

just try to find an unhit body. weigh out the differences between 'i' and 'iS' models, if you plan to do lots of mods, it really doesnt matter if you start with a basic 'i', but figure sport seats, and other options that you may want, or could in turn sell for more $$ if you are upgrading.

also keep in mind '84's and '85's came with drum rear brakes, and other undesireable items. unless you plan to overhaul the car, i'd keep w/ an '86 eta or later.. preferably an i/iS.

ok, i figured there was probably no real big difference. yea i'll most likely do a whole overhaul eventually, upgrade suspension, brakes, etc...thanx for the input
