Just dropped her off at Terry Sayther

Just got back from my marathon 1 day drive down to Austin to drop off my car for the major swap. Clocked in just over 800 miles in 1 day :)

Drive went pretty smooth. Was pulling her on a flat bed trailer. Some jackass decided to make a sudden stop ahead and had to stop faster than I like. Snapped 1 tie down, but had a spare and the rest of trip was fine.

The people at Terry Sayther were very nice. The shop was probably the most eclectic shop that I have every seen. It looks like 2 houses together with bays all around and a lot of bimmers everywhere.

    To do list for shop:
    S52 install
    5 speed swap
    Koni/ IE springs install
    Sway install
    M Tech 11 Sides install

I will post some pics of the install pics when they send them to me.

what is just the s52 swap running you? My girlfriend will be in europe with her mom for a month and I'm trying to see how many fat chicks I'd have to sleep with for an s52 and decide wether or not it's worth it then.

I'm thinking I could probably nail like... 300 fat chicks for an s52. Not ugly fat chicks, but the kinda chicks that need to pay for a good dicking... it's all for a good cause...

Do you have before pics? What kind of condition is you can in currently?

I would really love to see an in depth photoshoot of how they dealt with certain things like the wire mess over the top of the motor (ladies and gentlemen, I have a PLAN!) and the motor mounts/transmission mounts/brake booster/radiator issues that all seem to be such a pain for most swaps.

TSA is supposed to be the best, please show us their work! R3V needs to know!

I'll give Terry a call in Austin on Monday and see if they can set up a photobucket of the work or something like that. I'll start a new thread of the detailed conversion process. Maybe I can get some comments with some of the pics to post. Should be a good month :)

Also, just signed on a new house in Frisco and should be moving at first of June. Hopefully the car will be done by end of May to drive up to her new garage :)

Damn 800 miles ? What part of TX do you live in ?
Only city I can think of within that range that is not a total hole in the wall would be Lubbock area .

Congrats on getting the ball rolling and getting down to TSA , whatever you do DON"T mention Jordo's name around there .

Also congrats on landing a house in Frisco , hopefully that means you'll be able to make it out to some meets or events and we can look the new ride over .

Lubbock is correct. It was about 386 down there and a little more back. We stopped for food at Opies BBQ on the way back. Look forward to seeing the Dallas crowd this summer.

I had the engine and parts and they are charging around $3500 to 4kish. Probably be a little more since I am having some other stuff done also.

yeah 5speed swap is probably a big chunk, plus suspension... but 4k with engine and parts... ouch. Can you get an invoice from them with the separate cost for labor on just the motor swap for my curiosity sake if it isn't too much to ask?

Yea, I've seen pictures of the place - it looks very odd indeed. But hey, if they can do good work - then who cares.???

Wow, DIY ftw. Cant you turn a wrench yourself?

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Sounds fair, they aren't working there for free :) That's actually the cheapeast price i've seen for this job so far.

I think I agree on the $3500~$4500 price being decent.

I just want to see a decent solution to the wire bomb that most cars have. The E36 M3 shield is lame, 2 sets of wires poking out at an angle.

I want to see someone do something truly clean, not just a cover, either.

I wanted to try it myself, but with the move coming up within a month and trying to get packed, etc (with twins), there was no time since this is my daily driver. I am driving farm diesel truck now, but when I am in Dallas, I needed a reliable car and decided to let the pros work on it while I get packed.
