talk to aaron, he has a calypso cabrio with a hardtop, he just recently bought it off ebay i think. I dont believe that they are EXTREMELY rare, but i know they're a bit pricey, like $1200 ballpark i think
EDIT: he bought just the hardtop part, not the whole car, and just the top costs about 1200 (i think)
How rare is the E30 hardtop convert? I never knew they existed until a car dealer friend bought one last year, think he still has it for sale also.

Yeah, the hardtop is not an original piece on the cars. You buy the hardtop and then install it on the car with the soft top folded down.
An E30 with a folding hardtop would be cash. Anyone seen any custom jobs?
"See, we're adding a little something to this month's sales contest. As you all know, first prize is a Cadillac Eldorado. Anyone wanna see second prize? Second prize is a set of steak knives. Third prize is you're fired."

he got it off that guy who crashed the white cabrio (cant remember his s/n for the life of me) , not ebay :P
Yup bought it off Dave Adams after his unfortunate crash. In my area they seem hard to come by but I would imagine in the colder (snowy) climates, more people would have purchased them when they bought the car.
Mine is in great shape. I had the headliner redone in black cloth.
