Should i sell or keep my car?! :(

So let me describe my car:

    1985 325e, black in color
bilstein shocks...don't know what springs (came with the car)
    bbs RA wheels
bbs front spoiler (looks pretty sweet)
    replaced:
e36 m3 short shifter and linkage rebuilt
    clutch and flywheel
    control arms and powerflex bushings
    sport seats

I bought the car for $1,000...which i don't think was a great deal, but it did come with the rare front spoiler, bbs wheels, and suspension.
I put in almost $2,000 and I would think a lot more work needs done, including the radiator, and other common problems.

Should I just sell the car or sell it to save up and buy a 325is?

I have trouble letting go because I've invested a lot into it. I don't know if the 325i is so much better than the e, that I should just sever that investment and bond that i've built with the car...

    anyway.

    help me decide!

    mods:
    Powerflex CABs
    MOMO Corse Exhaust
euro bumpers with BBS front spoiler
    e36 m3 shifter
    uuc clutch stop

I say pull off the RA's (unless they are weak 14's), front spoiler and reinstall the flat seats and then sell it for all it is worth .
In my neck of the woods a crap Eta like that would be in the $400-$600 range but you might get more being in SoCal ....hell you could probably get some coked out baller frat boy to pay top dollar for it . :p

Then put that $$$ money towards any year 325is and you'll never look back .

a 325i is the same car with a different differential and engine (key components)

I'd just run the ETA till it explodes, and swap from there, no point in swapping cars when 90% of the stuff is the same.

I'm with James. You're already into it, and if you short-sell it now you'll probably lose more than the cost of swapping another motor.

              I agree.

If nothing else keep the eta and buy a 325i (or iS) for a second car. E30's are cheap enough. That way you can have one for a dd/de car and have the other as a nice preserved garage-queen car.

Something tells me the OPS car is FAR from a nice clean garage queen . ;)

I still say sell it for all its worth and buy any year 325is ...even though you'll be miles ahead if you pick up a 88+ version .

keep it, and if/when you have the money and once all of the pertinent projects are done, build a stroker turbo.

or it really depends on what your goal is? are you looking to race or just daily drive? if just daily drive, then keep ETA, fix it up (not the engine though), and drive it until the engine blows, and then drop an I engine which leads to VOILA! now you have a 325i: then you drop a 3.73 rear end which leads to a 325is... and so on and so forth

if race, then go with rThor432's advice
