You don't need the I or IS lip right away. The lips make the car look better though...without it the late model E30's look like they were punched in the face and lost some teeth. I have an IS lip on mine. The lips go on the bottom of the new valences. The main differences is the I lip is a small rubber lip that makes the valence clean and flush. The IS lip is a bit lower. There's a comparison pic on this site or e30tech...I'll look for it since you'd have no idea what I'm saying without a pic.

the big things are ok you are a lucky guy try opening the fender and see if a clean fender will fit right or need some lift.it's not deep just need fender grill kidney and elips.
thank god
a few days ago i got about $800 of stuff from bavauto, including new fogs, complete brake ducts, oil cooler grill, and some other things like hood/cabby/trunk shocks, new interior light, new (black) bmw emblems, and a brand new iS lip
so the e30 is in the shop to get the radiator mount repaired, the fender painted and mounted, the valence, bumpers, and iS lip painted, and the hood repaired
due to the holiday and busy schedule, he told me i can expect the car in about a week
after that all i have to do is mount the valence, bumpers, and lip, and the car will be all done!
well almost, soon i also want to get smoked front turn signals and euro bumper trim (both from abrahams?). after that i need to get HID H3 bulbs for the fogs, and perhaps some 'smoked' lamin-x for the fogs too
Sounds like its going to come out very nice. I'd love to see it when you're done.

well its been awhile but i am finally done working for the summer so i now have some free time to wrap up this facelift
the used valence i bought turned out to be beyond repair, so i had to get an oem one, which is being painted today, along with the brake ducts. the smoked euro smileys, euro grills, black kidney grill, prolumen HID low beams, and osram silverstar high-beams are in.
still to be done:
mounting of valence, fogs, brake ducts, lip, etc
euro bumper trim
euro license plate frame
hid h3 bulbs for the fogs + lamin-x
Awesome! You're out in the area are you going to the Rolex Vintage at Limerock?
