    New carpet options

With the new seats Rob (rscheiring) has beautifully recovered (pics soon...after we finish my driver's seat!), I'm now almost completely done with my interior...which is pretty awesome for any of us to be able to say we're almost done with any one aspect of our car :)

All I have left at this point is the headliner, which we're coming up with solutions for, the rear decklid, which Rob will be taking care of, and my carpet.

I have an 87 parts car with a grey carpet, but I just dont know if I want to take a 19 year old carpet out and put a 17 year old one in.

Where are some factory and/or aftermarket carpets for the E30? Has anyone replaced their carpets with new? And it's not just the color I want to replace, so please don't offer suggestions on how to dye my carpet. Getting rid that smell a 20 year car is bound to have has a lot to do with replacing all of the upholstery, especially the carpet, and it's all worn out and thin anyways. I'd like a nice plush carpet to make it feel new again.

Your best bet is to buy new OEM carpeting. From what I've heard, none of the 'carpet kits' fit very well at all; this is due to the fact that most of them don't have the foam and padding on the bottom, but are rather molded pieces of carpet designed to sit atop your old carpeting.
I'd try and get the part # for a new carpet.

Ok, so only the stealership can help me with that? Or is there someone that's not gonna wrao themselves in 30 grit and bend me over?

I'd call Bav Auto or BMA; they can get the same parts and they're much cheaper.

That's what I was wondering-they don't have anything on their site (that I could find) but I figured they'd be cheaper.

Hows that mtech 1 kit treating you? I'd really like to see a bunch of pics of yours as well as any mtech 1 pics im sure you have. Thinking of going with it, but I want to take a good long look at it before I decide to shell out the bucks.

I still haven't mounted the euro bumpers or the mtech 1 front airdam. I'm waiting on a piece of the rear bumper from Jon (one of the sides was rusted out). Then I'm going to paint them body color. Then I'm going to have to have Jordan fix the front airdam and then get them all painted.

I was told by Ryan (Super ETA) that he got his caret from Home Depot for $100. His interior looks great!

No he didn't, he got his carpet from me. It came out of my wrecked 88 325i.

Maybe he was just telling me that you can get it there. I don't know. I just remember him telling me about getting carpet at Home Depot for $100.

Home depot sells carpet... but not form fitted to the E30.

So has anyone ordered a new OEM carpet? I'd like to get rid of my faded grey for a new black one, but i'm not sure of the availability.

I don't think there ever was a straight black carpet. I think black interior cars only came with the dark grey colored carpet.

as classy as that is...I'd like something a little more plush, and formed to the car :)

There are companies that make custom colors...just gotta find em. Which is the purpose of this post...to scare out anyone who's bought new carpet. Come on, it's a 13+ year old car we're talking, there's got to be more people that's replaced their carpet!

Thats what I was planning on doing when if I ever get an E30. I wanted to do all black inside w/ black carpets and all.
