    Hope he gets it back...

But, how does one go about stealing an E30? Do they bring a rollback tow-truck with them? If they break the ignition and get the motor started, how do they get past the steering lock?

Do people that work on cars (dealer/independent) ever copy keys? [I guess it wouldn't be that hard]

it is really easy to cut an E30 key out of nothing, if you know what you're doing

Ive cracked some steering locks at the junkyards [mtech wheels] but it takes me at least five minutes with a bfh and a punch. Maybe i am a newb, but i would imagine you would have to be quite experienced to do it in a timely manner.

it's not like I was asking how to do a plastic bumper swap
It wasn't on the first page. Sorry I don't live in the general discussion forum.

I locked myself out of the 7 series when I first got it, and my smart ass had left the title in the car, so I couldnt sign the ownership and go to BMW to get a key.

After almost considering smashing in the window to get in the car, I found someone who got me a key for my car, which worked perfectly, and all I gave him was a VIN. No title, no registration, no ID, nothing.

I was very greatful, but at the same time scared at the thought of it.
