Nothin better than workin on car and drinkin beer...

Well.... besides sex....sometimes... Anyways, I know I don't own an e30 yet, but I'm workin on that. In the meantime I've been helping my buddy Nick work on his 318is. It's been a lot of fun thus far! Plus, he makes a lot more money than me so we get to mod his more often...lol.

A couple weekends back we finished up his stage II head install. It was pretty fun... pretty straight foward too. I haven't learned enough about bimmer motors yet, but I'm very mechanically inclined and work on my dub whenever it needs somethin.

    So the mayhem began......

A couple pics...The car used to be red and entirely stock when he bought it with 130,000 miles on it. 20,000 miles later...

    It has:
4.10 rear end w/ Limited Slip diff out of an ix model
    Chip
    2.5 straight back Remus Exhaust
    K&N Filter
    UCC Shifter
    Bilstein Shocks
    Bavarian autosport springs
Bavarian F&R sway bars and F&R upper strut bars

Friday- Got the throttle body, intake, intake manifold off fairly quickly. Drained the oil and got the stock head and bolts out. After that, we had to wait for the ARP headstuds to come in so we sandblasted and painted the valvecover with some high heat resistant grill paint...it came out prettttty! We're Prolly gonna to the upper part of the intake manifold as well.

Saturday- The headstuds arrived so we cleaned out the extra coolant that dripped on the pistons and put on the new SS 5-layer headspacer. I'd say they look DAMN good for having over 150,000 miles on them.

    The new head...

Then we took the cams out so we could get the new head on...

    The new headgasket...

    Droppin the head back in...

    Puttin the cams back on...

Puttin the new valvecover gasket on...

    The Plasma Coils...

Then we sat back and had a few cold ones and played some Call of Duty 4 online.
    Sunday

Set the timing, put everything back on and time for a test drive!

All in all, it was quite an upgrade. It pulls a lot harder, but nowhere near my liking. I'll probably end up getting a 325is once I sell my car. Hope you enjoyed and glad I could share!

Car looked good, until I saw the tails. Definitely needs to get a set of MHW's.

well hes not even on this forum but it's his car and he shall do what he likes. I happen to like the tails but im more of a smoked guy myself. the carpet has been taken out. hence the redness.
the only things i dont like about it so far is the unpainted carbon fiber hood and silver mesh, but i guess he's repainting it satin black this summer so oh well.

head spacer and head gasket...are you sure? I've used MLS head gaskets before and they are definitely meant to replace the stock gasket, not go along with them. How did you decide who was the lucky one who got to touch stock gasket, the head or the block? Are you racist against blocks or something?

Anyhow looks like fun and I like how the sparco bar matches the engine bay :)
