The guy is getting rid of it pretty cheap; however it’s still a price I would have to get a loan for. So, I’m pretty cautious right now.

I'm still curious as to how much these run for in good shape. If I were to pick it, I would be a 'flip' situation... I would sell it for money for an e30 M3 (or find someone to trade for it). Again, depending on what it's worth. Since the M88 is pretty freakin' rare and it is the original Euro M, I'm thinking it's worth a decent amount, I just can't find any proof...
Ah, Bobby Thrash at Strictly German near Road Atlanta? He's a good guy. He deals with about every model BMW offers, rather than focusing on one particular set of engines like the guy I told you about earlier. He knows his stuff though.

When you say that you can't find any proof, what exactly do you mean?

Check M5Board, there is usually a good bit of knowledge with the closely-related S38 motors in their E34 M5 Discussion board.

Yeah, I've heard a lot about him. I haven't made it up to his shop to check it out (I've been told he has a ton of parts laying around). I need to get up there though.

Well, I just haven't found one for sale or one that has sold. I've been looking a few weeks, so I'm just not sure what someone would be willing to pay for this.. Again, I'm thinking about getting just to re-sell it (should have put that part in with the original post).

A Google search yielded few results for pictures of his lot, but I did find some on some guy's Flickr account.

The first few pictures give a pretty good idea of his place. Sort of a BMW junkyard of sorts, but there are many gems to be found ordinarily. It's only 10-15 minutes from Road Atlanta too.

Bobby Thrash is a good man. I'd buy it if you don't.

I'd pay like 2.5k-3.5k depending on how bad the interior really is. It looks gnarly but it could just be dust that wouldn't take much to get that leather back up to par. The engine is going to be what you spend the most money on from the looks of it.

That interior doesn't look bad at all. Hard to tell but the dash looks good, and that's the coveted Buffalo Hide on the seats, not your normal leather. Looks a little dried out as buffalo tends to do. A treatment with leatherique rejuvenating oil should bring it right back.

A good euro M6 (M635CSi) will bring more money than a comparable US car. US had 256hp, the euros were rated at 286hp. Sitting for a year is nothing. Even if no real preparation was done for storage, that's not as long as you think. 3 or 4 years and it would be a little more involved to revive it, but not the end of the world.

I just have to wonder why it was parked in the first place.

Here are a few for sale:

I'd definitely buy it if there's no rust issues and the price is right, that's a nice find. Interior just looks like dust and if the engine was running last year, pack her up!

If you don't, I will. :-) (as will several others, from the looks of it!)

In really good shape, that car is worth in the $20-30,000 range. In the shape its in, if the car runs and drives fine you could probably sell it pretty quickly for $10,000. Whatever you do, don't part out such a nice car.

Edit: 1000th post- damn I'm on here too much..

Buy it. It looks like a real euro M6, so it has the 286 hp M88. They are great cars, and very good for trips. They will also keep up with a new 335i to about 135 Mph, maybe losing a few car lengths, and past that they will pull on and pass the 335i. I know from experience and 2 very good drivers (myself not included...)

It's an M635CSI, so buy it. My father owns one and it's a blast.
