    173 vs 525 ecu?

Which ones better then 173 or the 525 when replacing a 153? difference between them?

neither one is better or worse than the other.

Why replace the 153 if it works? Someone somewhere back in the early days, just after Al Gore invented the interweb, posted something saying 153's were more troublesome than 173's and it's now become the gospel truth without any solid proof.

If the 153 is working fine, there's no need to change. If it's not working fine, either the 173 or 525 will work just fine, and are a later version of Motronic so in that sense they're "Better"...... (Sort of like Windows Vista???)

differences are that the 153 is a dual board setup versus the 173 which is a single board setup. Accessing the eprom chip takes a little bit longer to get into the dual board setups, but its not hard and finesse is your friend. Otherwise they both operate the same and should take care of you with no problem.
