I dont recall anyone questioning the strength differences between the 10g steel and the 3/16" alum, just the plate design in general. But thanks for the info!

For reference for those of you too lazy to look it up, 10 gauge steel is 0.1345" thick. That's a bit over 1/8", almost 9/64". 1/4" aluminum would be roughly the same strength, although there are a lot of variables in a comparison such as this.

Could you show a pic of the front of the car being supported only by the skid plate?

yes, but powder coat is strong and when you scrap it you can touch it up.

wonder if the aluminum one would be better for more scrapage due to not rusing if the powdercoat gets worn off.
