    Brake Master Cylinder?

My 88 Cab has over 200K. When I slowly step on the brake, the pedal seem to sink down. But when I step on it quickly (hard), it hold. I did not loose any fluid. Is my master cylinder going? TIA

It's a possibility. I've had a clutch master cylinder do that same thing, so I'd assume it's also possible to happen to the brakes. There is no external fluid leak, but when put under pressure, the fluid leaks back up through the master and you loose pressure.

Just spend 2 hours of the day sucking the fluid out of your reservoir with a turkey booster, replacing your Brake MC, then flushing the entire brake system using fresh fluid, and make sure there is no air in you lines. After that, you will be good. I had the same problem but worse because the fluid in my car was not changed in over 20 years. It came out like mud and sludge. Make sure you have a good friend with you to do the bleeding. I got my BMC from the junkyard, from a car with a firm brake pedal feel.

Yeah, it's your BMC. Just do what the guy above me says.
Me: "I can't wait to redline my car!"
Mark: "Didn't you just break a rocker arm?"
Me: "Yeah, I don't think I've learned my lesson."
        Mark: "You never will."
