I sell on CL a lot. Cars, parts, everything. I hate lowballers, too. I don't care about the scammers anymore but for all the lowballers, I let them know in the ad to not bother. If they do, just delete it. It's pretty easy, actually. If it's worth near what you're asking, it'll sell.

That's my tactic. "Serious inquiries only, low ball offers will be ignored." When people come to look, I don't haggle with them. Offer 10% off? Probably fine - but if they start "kicking tires" or whatever I just tell them "look, I don't have time for this. Do you want to buy it or not?"

Had a guy come over to buy a $20 mini-fridge the other day. He plugged it in and wanted to wait for it to get cold to see if it worked!

The key is to spot them quickly and don't let them waste your time.

I've never had problems selling on craigslist. Occasionally scammers, but never any lowballers. Closest I got was a friend wanting to buy wheels for $400, advertised as $550, but I was asking too much anyway.

I've never had any problems when they came to look either. Even with my eta, first person to look at everything I've sold bought it. Maybe I just make good ads

I suppose you have to take it with a grain of salt thought because in my area everything posted to CL is about 50% too expensive! If they are getting asking price for their garbage then I guess I'm wrong but most of the ads, especially for cars are way too high. I just looove the salvage title cars listing for above normal book.

I also love the ads that say that a $5 part and 5 min will get the car running like new... then why don't you do it and sell a running car?

I offered at least a half dozen people 85-90% percent of their asking prices and i never once got any responses. Maybe i should low ball so i can at least get them to reply with an offended response. I'll at least know i have their attention.
