    Exhaust Question

    Hey guys and gals,

I found a e36 exhaust that sitting at a local exhaust shop and I was wondering if it would be possible to adapt it to my e30? I can have it put on for pretty cheap. Not exactly sure what brand it is. Does anyone know if I can do this or if it would even be possible? Thanks. :D

Well when you put it like that anything can be adapted. I think you want to say can it bolt up using the factory mounts and if not, how much loving does it need to work w/o exceeding what you can get done from the shop?

Example: if the piping needs extensive work, you're better off just getting the guy to bend you your own pipes and mount up the muffler anyway you can.

if the muffler itself fits fine and the pipes need minimal work then its worth it.

Well the only reason I am considering it is because I can get the exhaust and have it put on for about $130. I'm running straight pipes right now, so it would have to be welded on anyway.

wait a little while, and spend the extra change on a high quality stainless steel aftermarket exhaust. e36s are a good bit bigger than e30s, so I doubt the exhaust would just fit on without some extra modification.

Ok, I'll take that into consideration. Thanks for the info. Oh, and it is a stainless steel aftermarket exhaust. If it was a stock e36 exhaust, I wouldn't even think of it.

Someone here tried to retrofit an m3 exhaust, and it didn't work out so well(maybe he figured it out?), it's the muffler size that's the problem.
