    Oil leaking?

Oil is leaking quite heavily from my car, and I believe it's because it's been scraped too many times on speed bumps...the car had really bad control arms prior to my replacing them, and the car is lowered, so the car scraped pretty hard.

I guess it could be a seal too, but I don't think so, due to the amount that's leaking.

So what is it that i need to replace, how hard is it, and how expensive? Is it an oil pan?

    thanks

Clean and verify the source of the leak first. Cars this old leak from every possable seal.

      Ok. I'll do that too.
But it happened all of a sudden. Meaning that it didn't start out as a small leak that got bigger. It happened soon after it was scraped another time on a particularly tall speed bump, and it leaks pretty heavily right now, so it would be cool if i could know what to replace.

The last time I had a really bad oil leak, it was caused by the part of the oil filter head that mounts to the engine. The main problem was that it was loose, but I ended up replacing the O-Ring before I tightened it up. Take a look at parts #2 and #3 in the diagram.

hm. so none of you guys think it could be the sump cover and actual sump that's been torn through?

i hate to say it but get under the hood with a flashlight, superclean, and a shitload of shop rags and find the leak.

Noone can tell you what is leaking without actually taking a look at the engine. All we can do is tell you common things but nothing is for sure without actually looking. My bet is the oil pan gasket.
