I took 3 of them first just for the hell of it, passed them all, then took the other 5 about 6 months later and passed them too- so I was Master ASE certified....until they expired and I decided not to take the recert tests since I'm not making a living as a tech.
I thought they were fairly easy, but I've always had an easy time with tests like that. I've never even taken an auto tranny apart, and don't do much AC work but I managed to get them all. What this tells me is that a guy who has worked on cars for a living for more than a couple of years who is NOT an ASE Master tech is not the guy I want working on my car. Sure, you can argue that he might not be good at taking tests, but I think he'd have to be a moron to have that much real world experience and not be able to figure out the answers to those multiple choice questions.
Congrats to the OP for passing those 2, now get the rest of them!!! ;)
