    Seeking an E30, need help.

I'm on a budget, and I want an E30. I would also prefer something within the tri-state area (I'm in NYC) I stumbled upon this on eBay...

what is your budget? that looks like a clean car, but you can definitely save more by buying one a little more... broken in

That's too much, especially for a starting bid on an 86 325.

are you kidding? $4k will get you a NICE e30. Don't try to buy the first one you see. Cars are like girls, you have to wait for the right one before busting your nut

I want a 90 or 91, but I've been look for 2 days now, I'm just wondering how long it will take to find the right one. I need a car. I would have been searching sooner, but here's my situation, I am in the Navy, I was supposed to ship to boot camp on the 18th of june, but my date has been pushed back to january,(which sucks so much) so i sold my car last month, along with quit my job. I got my job back, but i have no car. I would appreciate any much help i can get. I love the E30. It's classy, Im not looking for a super fast car, I need something that will get me where i need to go, get good gas mileage, and is an E30.

I searched for about three months before finding mine on craigslist.

I was kind of looking for something specific, though. In that time there were quite a few E30s that popped up, but they weren't what I wanted or got nabbed by someone else before I got a chance to see them.

I searched for 4 years to find mine. I wanted to find a late model black on black regardless of what transmission it had, all the time not willing to spend big coin on getting the car. I knew the car was going to need attention being a 15+ year old car regardless of the price and condition it was in. I just was not going to pay 3k+ knowing I was going to have to do maintenance work to it right off the bat. And the car needed to be unmolested and not moded in anyway. I finally found mine at a small car lot for $1450 out the door with taxes after 4 years of searching. I know you don't have that long to wait but if you take your time you will find the right one. Don't just jump at the first one you see, especially if it is a eta.

                    Good Luck...

ok, a few questions: What is an eta? What kind of Price should I be paying for a 90-91? How much would I be looking at to get the car in proper shape, for example: as soon as i get the car in my possession im talking it to my mechanic to have the timing belt changed, water pump and all that stuff, just to get the car in proper mechanical order. I would intend to keep this car for a very long time.

I paid 3 for a 91 318is. An eta is the early 325 and its a torquey motor that isn't high reving, good as daily driver but not track car as is.

found that on e30tech.com, how much do you think it would cost to get the exterior into good shape? I like the fact that it's near by and not that expensive.
