    opinion before purchasing

im going to be looking at this car tomorow - he says the timing belt, water pump, and oil pump has been replaced. I asked about rust and he said on the rear bumper and the sunroof is beginning to bubble.

what do you guys think about it? my main concern is rust, as the car has been repainted (trying to hide something?)

I think the bubbling on the sunroof is common, mine has a spot or two of it on the sunroof, also. How long ago on the t-belt and such? Overall not bad for the price, I bought mine for slightly less with a blown head gasket. Looks like a decent paint job from pics, ie. painted bumper trim.

When you go look at it pop the trunk and pull away the carpets and such to check for water stains/rust/or anything out of the ordinary.

There might be a pre-buy checklist for these somewhere, either on here or elsewhere on the internet.

What makes you think painted bumper trim makes it a good paint job?

And I'd wonder about this guy's legitimacy if he said there is rust on an aluminum bumper.

It is a common subtle mod to the exterior of diving board car, I thought? Aluminum doesn't rust, but it could get stained by rust.

Also, I stated "from the pics", so it might only be a good 10-20 footer.

the belt was replaced last fall and said he could get records. I'm going to ask for the VIN and run it through the dealer and see what they come up with.

and yeah im planning on checking under the carpet, battery area, and from what i can see under the car/rockers

I spy ebay angel eyes. Othersise, it looks OK for the pice but a bit worn out. Thats about as good of a deal as you will find in Indiana ;). If you need any parts or help or anything, let me know.

It is probably rust under the bumper instead of on it. Check under the battery tray. doesn't seem too bad, although the mileage is a bit high. I motors can last forever, but valve guides and internals will drive you crazy.
