    Oem Skid Plate

Have this skid plate but the part number is different from the four OEM ones listed. It says 51 71 9 057 711. Does anyone know which one it is?

i boxed my subframe and in doing so raised the motor 1/2" which i didnt even think about until now. but i still think it would have cleared regardless. superduper was running a late model plate but his subframe was boxed identical to mine. your pan would hit your skid plate??

blunt can you elaborate on how you boxed yoru subframe? Did you do this for strength or clearence? pics?

I have an early oem skid plate and it hits the oil pan. Its a good inch or more from making it to the front mounts if the rears are touching. I also took some material off of the motor mounts to sit the engine as low as possible for weight/to gain a little extra head room for the 6speed box. If your engine is sitting 1/2" higher and mine is about 1/4+" lower thats the difference right there.

i used to have pics but no more. when i first did my s52 i ran it one summer and pulled it back out to do cams, lightweight flywheel etc etc and when i did i noticed the passenger side subframe mount area was all deformed from one summer of torture. so my buddy made up 1/2 inch steel plate patterns that allowed me to weld and in effect box that area and at the same time give me more clearance for the downpipes over the sway. superduper may still have the pics because we made up 2 sets and the other set is in bens car now. my hard drive crashed and i lost a bunch of shit. but yes, my motor was sitting exactly 1/2 inch higher than if i used only the motor mounts. my pan was pretty tight to the skid plate also. i always forget about the boxing aspect when someone asks
