made from mild steel rod. my console was already cut up from a previous owner installing the radio EQ., so the cup holder has a 1.5"x 4" plate that is attached to the flat area ahead of the ash tray with 4 screws.

not perfect but it works. holds all the kinds of cups/cans that I use. no more spilt coffee.
