Side draft carbs alone won't really bring performance gains, but they will take advantage of a serious cams and such. Converting a car from EFI to something like side drafts for a daily just doesn't make sense, but for a weekend warrior or track rat, it is simply a preference. I myself want to take up a hobby of setting up some webbers and tunning them just because of the nostalgic sound and feel.
