    Anyone know about junkyards?

For those of you guys that part out cars ...

Can I part only some of the parts out and then call a junk yard to haul the rest away?
WTB m50 or s50 swap parts, PM me

Not really. Most auto dismantlers buy their cars from insurance auctions and not from private parties. Only certain companies will take parted out cars, and some of them even make you pay for the disposal (around here, at least).

I had to pay $75 to get rid of the car I parted. But you can absorb some of that cost buy selling parts from the car. Most companies are a little cheaper too, I just needed it gone fast.

Look for a metal scrapyard in your phone book. They will buy junk cars by weight even without a title. I've sold a few that way.

Mine used to give you $50.00 for a wrecked car. They make money on them.

I just had my two parts cars shells hualed off yesterday.
I looked in the phone book and tried to find a metal scrapy yard. Called them up and asked if they take scrap cars. If they said yes then I asked if they had sort of hualing service or any one who reguraly brings cars in, a local place 10 miles down the road gave me a number of a guy. I called him and he came out ans said there wasn't enough on the cars to make it worht his time to hual them off. The place here pays by the pound and these cars were completly gutted of everything, only the frame. So I ended up paying him $25 to hual both shells off. Not bad in my mind, as there gone now, and I have the room for another parts car maybe.

I've always just put them on a trailer and taken them to the yard, never had one hauled away. That's probably the difference.

I found a red 89 e30 near my area that has been sitting for a while. I'm going to work the people up from $150.

How high should I go on an 89 325i 4 door? I can see the front valance is useless, theres a dent right in front below the kidneys that goes in like 2 inches, interior is mostly crap because they have left the windows down, the exhaust is rotted out. By just a quick look I noticed ellipsoids were good, rear plastic bumper was good, all body panels were good, windows were good, kidneys & grills good.

If that's the case, I'll call a couple of places tomorrow and I'll be parting out a '86 325es.

I'm grabbing the rear trunk spoiler for myself. ;)

Too bad there aren't any metal scrapyards around here... I would start towing every abandoned vehicle I see :P
