I drove a 08 R32 with DSG from Va to Canada. It was a fun car but its got like 250 hp and the all wheel drive just weighs the car down. They need more hp for to help compensate for the weight. It was fun to drive and the exhaust sounds good but I'll take my M3 over the R32 all day long.

It was a big bummer because i was thinking of buying one until i drove it.

Totally true. When I used to work at a video store a few years ago, there was this 50-something guy that always came in and had just bought one, and traded the STi wing to a kid down his street for a standard WRX wing, and swapped out the STi foglight covers for standards ones.

I'm not at all disagreeing with y'all's interpretation of the stereotype, but depending on your age, it's downright embarrassing to drive an STi. People that can afford STi's don't want the attention, and people that can afford the WRX's want STi's. Bang for the buck, though...

    I miss mine.

Just yesterday my friend with an 06 STi told me he's planning on debadging it and removing the spoiler. So true.

Yep - and VW has it rather tough in this market as it is. They're more of a niche marque in America. If they pulled out of the US market completely they'd survive just dandy without us. In the number of cars they sell here versus all the other markets worldwide, the US pales in comparison.

I agree with you eleventy billion percent on this. Truly a badass hatch.

But I still have a soft spot for VW, I want to get one eventually to add to the stable.

Oh I know they aren't going to bring it here, that's why I said if the would.

It's just too bad we constantly get the crappy cars. *puts on flamesuit*

The bad boy turbo'd Focus, the Renault Clio (love em) etc etc. But who do we get to come back to the market? Alfa Romeo, weak.

But it doesn't eclipse sales in Europe, where the market is even tighter? I've never understood the marketing strategy of most european car makers on this.....

I would love to see it here, but Josh is right. They're fucking pussies for some reason. I remember when they wouldn't bring the MkIV R32 over here. When they finally did, it sold out every one of the 5000 cars in like a nanosecond. I just don't understand how these marketing guys can be so wrong, the Scirocco would sell like fucking hotcakes here.
