on the end of the crank theres a flange the flywheel bolts to. that falls off a lot. all you need to do is remove the tranny and get yourself a soldering gun and tack that flange back on. use rosin core solder though. make a nice even bead all the way around and youre good

-Oh and I don't beleave that a mechanic would remove the tranny just to diagnose a problem like this...

See this is the thing I think the Tbelt snapped before I bought the ca,r the last owner had it fixed and somehow it did something where it made the crankshaft brake, Im not really sure all I know is that it is broken. and he took the tranny off because he thought i was a broken flywheel only to take it off and find out thats not it.

thats the thing. there are no symptoms except this loud clunking sound when I start the car and during idle. and its not consistent like a tap or anyhting. and when I accelerate it drowns out.

Oh geeez, if he t-belt was snapped or the crankshaft was broken the car wouldn't run.

                          Broken rocker arm.

Nah, broken rocker arm would seem like a constant misfire on one of the cylinders.

thats the thing it runs but only because the crank is not broken between the cylinders its broken at the end by the flywheel

Yeah just throwing that out as something to check. Pulling the valve cover is easy.
