When the e30's first started rolling off the assembly line I was so sick to death of the e21 that I just fell in love.

I worked at BMW AG and NA during the chassis redesign.

In my opinion the best BMW ever built (so far) is the 1989 to 1991 e30 chassis (with emphasis on the m42 powered IS)

I was in high school and a friend of mine bought an '89 i 2 door that was lowered and had some 17" wheels on it. I really thought it was cool for an old car, so I decided I would own one some day. About two weeks later he told me his car had broken on South Tacoma Way and it was still sitting there. Someone broke out the windshield, back window and the passenger window while it was sitting there. He told me he was just going to call a junk yard and tell them they could have it. I said fuck that and gave him $200 and went and picked it up.

Turns out the timing belt had broken. When I bought the car, I had never even changed the oil on a car, so the removal of the head was the first thing I ever did to a car. Then I got the bug, and I've been spending too much on it ever since.

Here it is the day I brought it home. You can see the jack stands were brand new because I didn't have a damn tool to my name.

Sorry dude - but I REALLY think the 1600-2002 line is the best (sans 74-76 ofcourse(excluding the 2002 turbo))

But e30s are a good DD

I impounded my first e30 a few years ago. The owner abandoned it and it became my daily. I'm now on my second.

Had a list of 11 teenage-dream cars that I wanted to make a project out of (240sx, 300z, integra, schirocco, gti, rx7, etc) drove all of them and was stuck between an 88 gti 16v and corolla trueno, them by a freakish accident drove a 84 318i. I had to scratch the list and bought that 318, just to buy a 325es within a month, and now i'm on my 10th one, and got all my friends, and their girlfriend to get them too.

I was looking for another car, I was told about some BMW (didn't have a clue what i was going to see?). Went to look at it, and found it was a rwd with a 5 speed. And had a boxy shape to it. But most of all it only was $400. (1985 325e)

                        1978 Chevrolet Monte Carlo

The e10s were sweet little cars...

( I raced against them for a while...Always the center of controversy...I worked for BMW and drove Datsun 510)

...but don't quite touch the e30 for refinement

years ago my mom had the cleanest 87 325is. it was white on black but unfortunately it was a auto, but still cool non the less. few years later i got a blue on tan 325e 4dr. i liked it, it was small and i had issues with the B pillar. so i traded it for a 735il. come to find out i have issues with ALL B pillars in 4dr cars. lol. then came a 89 535i. which some of you may remember i took to XXX a couple years ago. after the picnic i just had to find one. it had to be 2dr and it had to have plastic bumpers.

shortly after that i found a 89 325i 2dr in grants pass. i bought it at 1am and didnt notice how bad the body was and i noticed some rust. so i sold it. with the cash from that i bought another one identical that wasnt running from a auction. with what i made of selling the first one i bought the shell and a m52 for it. that was my somewhat infamous (dunno why) swap car. ended up selling that and paying off all my bills i accumulated from building that car. lol. after that i decided that i HAD to have a M3. and it had to be a white one.

now i got that, its one i will keep for hopefully the rest of my life!

so to answer the question proper, i decided i had to have one after my moms car, almost 8 years ago.

Well I had this beat up 325e that my dad bought me back in the day. I didnt like it much, but then I saw Blunt's car. So I bought another one to do an engine conversion on. Then I went to Hickory to pick up some wheels for it and saw Mitch and Tony's cars. After seeing those in person I was hooked. Mitch's Mtech 1 and Tony's hot-rod. I saw that they could look good and be stupid fast.

Since then I've owned 7-10 of them.
