SS lines arent bad for a daily persay. They are overkill, and they have a higher failure rate. For a car that will never see a track or auto-x type event, I would use NEW OE lines. Otherwise throw on the SS, just dont get mad when one starts leaking.sigpicComment

Someone must be making crappy SS lines for E30s. I ran them on an Eagle Talon for about eight years (same set of lines, two different Talons, probably close to 100k miles total), and I've had them on my Corvette for almost a decade. get oem. my SS lines went out on the track. the dust made a hole in the line which made them fail going around a corner and all most got hit by another car. dont use them for the street. use them on the track and replace every once and a while.Comment

Cool thanks guys. These are from BavAuto or BMP... They are 'Precise Lines' labeled on a yellow label and I believe were around 150-160 new. I'm assuming these are not considered 'cheap' by reliability standards?-------------------------------------------------

I only got them because they were cheaper than OE lines when I bought rotors/pads together with them. Otherwise I would have rubber. No problems so far, I noticed no improvement in braking performance or feel, but unless there were serious issues with your brakes before you shouldn't notice any change.

Really depends on the quality of the lines, and definitely get ones with a cover / coating.
I personally don't like them on the street because the way they make the pedal feel (short and hard).
A lot of the ones I've seen on the market are really trash (even the ones sold by "big name" suppliers).
As it was already mentioned here, DOT approval is important, it is the only real way of knowing that the quality is up to par.Comment
