    Zen Hood Seals...The future of

Okay these are my current choices.

    China:

    unknown quality at the moment

Estimated price for a Hood and Trunk Set $38 plus shipping ($4.80 USPS Priority Mail to the 48 US states).

Will take 6 months plus to set anything up

    Mexico:

I have a sample on hand here, they look about the same, possibly A tiny bit "rougher"

Estimated price for a Hood and Trunk Set $55 plus shipping ($4.80 USPS Priority Mail to the 48 US states).

Oddly the price of the Mexican material itself was quoted at precisely the same price but the cost of getting it here is more.

Also will take time to set up.

    Or...

Quit offering the seals for sale the one outfit I found here will make them and I'd use them out of the shop but $113 is not going to go over for the DIY.

If you can check the quality of the Chinese parts I would go with those.

Same Supplier, keeps telling me the quality is just as good etc, etc, etc,

They have not been very easy to work with and I don't really trust them anymore.

NAFTA my man, and it isn't in and of itself a bad idea, it's the implementation that's been a bit er lacking.

The big thing that here (for me anyway) is that these were made here in the USA. The guys that worked in that plant are now out looking for another job.

                That pisses me off.

I found out first hand about US jobs going out of this country. I had a good paying factory job. Then one day i went to work and found out i didn't. We was told it was because of lack of sales and the economy. But then i found out that they opened up a plant in Mexico about two months after they closed 3 US plants.

It's hard to buy something anymore and see "Made in USA" on it. And i hear alot of people say that American made stuff is junk (in general, not really on here). To those i say, Thanks alot for supporting your fellow American worker....

Sorry, i had to rant :letitout:

If we didn't tax american companies to shit, it wouldn't be so bad! They get reamed with taxes, and charges and crap. So, even with the dollar being so weak, it's STILL cheaper to manufacture outside the US.

Sorry, I had to mention that! :D

DCC, I must say, it's pretty sweet seeing that logo everywhere. hehe ;)

                      That is part of it.

And you did a good job on the logo, Thanks again.

China is out, I will definitely not do business with my former supplier or any competitive supplier in Asia.

However... I got some news today from a former employee of the company that made the stuff for me and It might be good news...

It would seem that he and three other guys from MD are going to try to make a go at it on their own as manufacturers, and they are very interested in gaining my and some others as there customers.

The down side is that the time estimate for them to be up and running is about a year.

Do you have any stock left over from the last batch? If that can tide you over for a year, I'd say stick with the people that you know and know will do a good job. How much do you think it would cost from these 4 guys?

Just a thought...if our corporate tax rate wasn't the 2nd highest in the world, maybe we wouldn't outsource so much.

Sorry for the hijack. Just had to throw that in. Lower the corporate tax rate to something more reasonable so that money can be put into R&D and keeping jobs here.
