Please help value a parts car!

I have this car I'm loking at, I found it wrecked and the owner has it at his grandparents place of work, I'd like to make an offer, but I havn't purchced a wrecked BMW in years...

    Here are the specs...

    325i

late model, has (munched) international bumpers and (deployed) air bags

    parts of value...

    Engine

    Possible auto transmission

    Important...Glass sunroof

other stuff...not really worth mentioning, just a plain jane 325i 4 door with a totally trashed chassis.

I have a number in mind, but I want to see if yours matches mine

Thank you, this should make e30 parts car #3

I want the roof for my 325is

This place is like catholic school, 2/3 of the students smoke weed on a daily basis, but the faculty seems to convince the outside world that drugs are just in the other schools, the resident pot dealer thinks he's cool because he has the originality to call anyone he doesn't like a homosexual, and most of the little children follow him like sheep, then there's the few with brains, you hardly ever hear from them, perhaps don't even know they exist, but they get all the sh!t done.

If this is your third parts car, you should already know exactly what it's worth - very little point in asking.

Pictures speak volumes, smiley faces do not.

Mileage, interior condition, rust situation, and the condition of remainder of the exterior are also helpful in determining said car's value.

TDE30- the body/chassis is toast, the value is in the engine and glass sunroof, everyhing else is either damaged or not worth picturing.

          Thanks,
          Karl

Engine and glass sunroof, eh? Maybe $300 unless it's an ASC Four-Season glass sunroof.

If the chassis is either damaged beyond repair or rusted beyond repair, and the interior is useless, I would say $3-400 is tops.

If the glass moonroof is complete and functional that'll fetch you $3-400 by itself right? Anything else is a bonus. I'm also willing to bet that the owner doesn't know a glass moonroof is worth anything. Does it have an lsd? Offer $200-300 and take it from there?

                I'd offer $250.

Pull the moonroof and all accessories associated with it and the complete M20. I would just have a metal recycler come and pick the chassis up.

A trip to the metal recycler will cover the initial purchase cost of the car, which should be around ~$300-350. Then anything is a bonus.

As you should know the little things add up.

100 bucks. who else will take it? the junk guy? take the sunroof and motor, cut off the cat and sell the car to the junk guy for 200 bucks. if you want to take the time cut it up yourself and make a couple bucks more than do that.

a good running, low mileage complete M20B25 is maybe worth $500 max, unless it's been recently rebuilt with records OR has REALLY low verifiable mileage.

Glass 'roof worth $300-500, as others have mentioned, it might have an LSD- which would be a 410, worth ~$200-300 depending on mileage, etc.

Catalytic converter is worth ~$200+ IF it's OEM BMW- worth $15 if it's aftermarket.

Aluminum wheels, ~$10-12 each for scrap aluminum, car itself is probably worth $200-250 in scrap metal alone, after you pull all the above-mentioned parts (IF you sell it directly to the scrap place).

What it's worth to you???? only you know that.

Based on your sketchy details, I'd pay $350 for it sight unseen if I didn't have to drive to far to get it.

i thought parts cars e30's were universally $250. I would never spend more than that if you plan to part it, and for your efforts you should get gravy for the work and haul to your house.

                            Good luck.

don't know what crevice you pulled that little nugget from- but in my experience, the prices are all over the place. There's no such thing as a "universal" E30 parts car, nor a "universal" price for one.

I've bought E30 parts cars for -0- up to $1500 and almost everywhere in between. It depends on what you plan to do with it, what kind of quickly sellable parts are on the car (i.e.- how quickly and easily you'll be able to make your investment back by selling parts you don't need or want), how badly the seller wants the car gone, etc, etc.

With scrap prices being as high as they have been for the past year or so, even a complete POS car with absolutely no marketable parts on it is worth ~$200-250 for scrap steel. Throw in a BMW catalytic converter to the mix and the scrap metal value doubles. But, don't assume that the car has an OEM BMW cat on it, and don't assume that the cat is full of the platinum coated honeycomb that's worth the $$$- it may be gutted, it may be blown out- I've been burned by that a couple of times.
