Mounting Rearview mirror in the Vert

I've tried all the products that I have found regarding mounting the rearview mirror back in my vert. The one that came with the vehicle fell off, and I upgraded to a newer one with maplights. All is wired up, I just can't get the darn mirror to stay mounted to the windshield.

Any thoughts/recommendations?

Little metal bracket glued to the windshield? Go to a parts store or Wal-Mart and buy some rearview mirror adhesive and a razor blade. Scrape off the old adhesive, glue the bracket back in place. Let dry, re-attach mirror. Done.

Hmm...I've never had one fail after re-gluing. Either you have bad glue or contaminates on the glass.

agreed, mine has fallen off before, reglued it and its held for about 8 years now

i can suggest E6000 industrial strength adhesive, available at any hardware store?

I used a 2 part epoxy last year and have not had an issue yet

If you want it to work, you'll need to follow these directions:

A. Remove bracket from mirror.

2. Clean bracket THOROUGHLY - this means removing every bit of old glue from the mounting surface. Find a concrete curb, and scrub the mounting surface rapidly against it until all the old glue is gone.

C. Take a brand new razor blade and scrape all the old glue off the glass. ALL of it. (Place a small piece of tape on the outside of the windshield first so you'll know where the bracket goes.)

D. Purchase Loctite 312 rear view mirror adhesive. Don't screw around with anything else.

E. Spray Loctite 312 primer on the glass (where you marked it with the tape) and the bracket mounting surface. Allow to dry for 40 seconds.

F. Apply Loctite 312 adhesive to the bracket mounting surface in a thin, even coat.

G. Press mounting bracket onto the windshield, and hold firm pressure for 30 seconds. MAKE SURE THAT BRACKET IS CORRECTLY POSITIONED BEFORE YOU APPLY IT TO THE GLASS.

H. Allow to cure for 15 minutes.

I. Use razor blade to scrape off excess glue. Clean entire area with your favorite glass cleaner.

J. Install mirror onto bracket.

K. Drink beer, admire your work.

L. Invite your wife out to admire your work.

M. Call friends, invite them over to admire your work. Offer them beer - they will come.

N. Lose your keys, knock mirror off glass with your head while you're searching for keys.

O. Repeat steps A through K.

Well I got it done last night...the issue was that I didn't realize the "rubber" layer on the metal piece was actually the old adhesive...once cleaned and reapplied...it holds great!
