Pulled this from an online "Urban dictionary" ...

Q-ship -- Something that looks ordinary or common, but has been modified so that it's anything but ordinary (i.e. a 1971 Beetle with a transplanted Porsche 911 engine.

(Origin: Merchant vessels with disguised armament to attract submarines to attack)

The military origin part is new to me; I always thought the term came from Q in James Bond. Learn sumpin' new every day ...

What a car. E12's have always appealed to me, they were produced back in the day when BMW overengineered their cars. I think I saw this car on First Fives once.

        Here's another badass E12:

One of the things I like most about them is that vent/grille at the base of the C-pillar. Looks very similar to the ones on the E46 M3, on the fenders.

Yep, i'd rock it also :)...

I think the musclecar people around my parts would like it? They seem to like mine whenever they see it.

I've always wanted one. This is a great clean example. If only we all had money like that to spend on a car!

Someone called?! Here's a link that may help.

Beautiful car, but talk about trying to find a niche buyer. There's a thread at mye28 that he is participating in a bit.

I've never been a fan of the E12 but this thread is starting to change my opinion. Gorgeous color combination.

Amazing. I've only ever seen 1 e12 around here, and it was nice, but they don't look that great stock. Both of the ones posted here blow me away, though ;). Any details on the ///M-colored one?

I sat down and looked to my left, where, seated, was my lawyer - a kind and gentle looking man whose appearance seemed familiar to me. The corner door flew open and the judge appeared, dressed in full flowing robes. He commanded an awesome presence as he moved across the room. I couldn't take my eyes off of him. As he took his seat behind the bench, he said, "Let us begin."

PS: Jag rear end > E30 rear end. Sorry, you massive 6'7" butt nugget.

I don't mean to be an asshole, but a Q ship is an E30 with a 6 throttle twin cam motor, rocking nothing but big wheels.
