Will a M20 engine/tranny (attached) fit... in the back of a Matrix?

    Discuss this enigma....

making a helluva long trip to procure this jewel...wondering whether I can take my daily, or will need to swindle the f'ken van from work.

    thoughts?

(also roughly how heavy is this junk?)

I don't see why not, getting it in will be a bitch.

I'd say it weighs about 2-3.5 fat chicks.

Do the seats fold down? I assume it will fit without trouble. However, it's about 350lbs and I wouldn't try moving them together without an engine hoist. They are really heavy. Also, get some old shower curtains or something, because it will probably have quite a bit of oil residue.

I put a m30 in my e30. lol. so it should work... take the intake and exhaust manifold off first then guide it in.

          don't do it.
How are you going to load it an engine hoist is too high to clear
your hatch and when the engine is hooked on it it is still to high
for the interior of your car. And you will most probably break every
single little plastic covers in your car. Also how are you going to secure
it? And your rear suspension will hate you.

I had difficulties to get an m50 whitout trans in the back of a ram 1500
because of the stupid fiberglass cab that was on it the hoist was hitting
the hatch on it. The fact that I was alone didn't helped either, engines are heavy.

You say you have acces to your job van then do it. Way less troubles.

I wouldn't put it in anything that did not provide a good structural separation between me and the engine.

I'll be vanning it, or rental a Uhaul trailer and tow it behind the Gaytrix.

My dailydriver is spotless, and want to keep it that way.

The weight is what I'd be more worried about.

Why swap a M20 in a Matrix? Just get the Matrix and be done with it, DD's aren't always cool or unique cars. There isn't much reason to throw that much money into a DD, let alone a Toyota Matrix.
