PayPal Class Action Lawsuit?

I got it as well. I don't think it's a scam. I looked into it a bit more. There are reputable news sites that reported on this lawsuit. Also, I looked at the stuff it wants you to fill out, and the worst it asks for is your address. If it was a scam, they could get your address in much easier ways (i.e. without setting up a fake redirect from a legit Paypal webpage, and fake email from a legit Paypal address, and setting up an entire fake lawsuit page complete with forms.)
I work in a lawfirm here in Portland and I asked the paralegal about it. She said she has heard of (and participated in) similar class lawsuits. Got $13 out of one of them
edit: here is one of the new links: http://news.com.com/2100-1017-842240.html
there is another one on MSNBC...but I can't find it now.

From what I read, it sounded like it only applied to people who had problems with PayPal, be it transfers or wrong amounts, etc. Am I wrong about that?-Brandon

Just a sue happy environment.. See how much the lawyer fees are? Fucking insane. No wonder the Paypal fees are so high!!! It isn't going to hurt Paypal, they will simply raise the rates to compensate.
Every industry gets screwed by attorneys. Company gets sued, prices go up, lawyers get rich, public pays the price.
Stop friggin sueing everyone. You are only hurting yourself.Don't forget the good things Hitler did.

in class action lawsuits, many people become plaintiffs automatically
as a result of an individual filing a lawsuit on your behalf...in the
Paypal case, only a couple of people felt ripped off enough to file
on behalf of all...lawyers love these types of lawsuits because
1. they gain momentum quickly because so many plaintiffs are involved,
2. they get lots of media coverage because so many plaintiffs are involved,
and 3. the legal fees are outrageous...because so many plaintiffs are
involved...
usually, when a settlement is reached, the court determines a period
of time in which all claims must be filed...the court will also require the
defendant to give plenty of notification to all the plaintiffs involved and
give them ample opportunity to make their claims...if the court didn't
require this, the defendant would just keep quiet about it until the time
period passed and basically render the verdict or settlement worthless...
you got the email from Paypal because the court required them to notify
you...
i just filed a claim in a similar class action suit filed against Comcast...
seems they had been incorrectly charging sales tax on internet services
since 1999 in my area...i got over $100 back--in account credit...
