    Question about the 528e

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the motor in a 528e the same as a super eta? With the stripped out i head and seta pistons? I ask because there's a 528e in somewhat ropey condition, very near to me for $1100. I could cannibalize the motor parts I need for my stroker from it, then take parts from my current engine and make it so it has a running engine again, clean it up, and re-sell it. It's also got some pretty cool wheels.

And separately, is there any way that 5 lug parts from an E28 could be used on an E30?

    only if it's an '88

not without lots of custom fab and expensive E30 M3 parts.

I'll have to go back and check on the date. Thanks for the info fellas. I wasn't sure about the 5 lug stuff, I didn't think you could, but I thought I'd ask.

If it is in fact a late '87 or '88, I think that's what I'll do. I bet if I get it cleaned up really good, I could probably turn it around for at least $1500, maybe more. Especially advertising the fact that it's a fuel-economical engine.

I'd love to find a clean '88 528e 5-spd for my wife. would be a good honda replacement.

and I've got a set of euro bumps in the garage...

I was also just thinking, I bet I could get it away from them for les than $1100.

It's an '85. Rats. That would have been a sweet little flip.

                  -Yea the 528e = an e28 eta. Only '88 had the s-eta.
-Still might be worth getting, tho.

$1100 isn't a bad buy for an E28 if it's in decent (little to no rust) condition. They're great touring cars, and that eta motor is a sipper. Or, like you said, you could clean it up and flip it.

The paint on the front doors, fenders and hood is pretty bad, like almost matte (the car is black). But it's also Schwarz, so I probably have those parts painted for cheap, but not cheap enough to warrant flipping it and making enough profit back. Besides, the only reason I was going to do it was to get the engine parts I needed from a seta.

I bought an 85 for $700 and flipped it for $1500. Made @ 500 on it. If I had time and a lift, I would totally do this for extra money and fun. There are so many around Georgia!

Schwarz is black in german. It doesn't mean matte or gloss it is just black. My E30 is Diamont schwarz metallic. Sorry I could have spelled it wrong. It is just a metalic black.

very true, i got my 85 535 for a grand in gainsville back in april.

                              and about the 85 528e.

its the slowest m20 in a four door.

i wouldnt really suggest trying to buy it just to make profit. They dont hold there value at ALL. especially if it has bad paint.

My 535 has perfect paint and was in great condition.

However they made great daily drivers. I had an 84 auto 528e with terrible paint and barely ran. But it took everything in me to sell it. It was a great car
