              what's with all the "NEVER" in quotes like that? Sounds a little too fishy for me. Along with the never-to-exist '85 325i thing, and the fact he said he's never washed it with water, makes it sound very unbelievable to me. I would be suspicious

                        Here's a tip: if the trip meter is zeroed out, the odo is probably broken. How long that one's been busted is open to question.

                        Hardy & Beck were the US provider of Alpina performance parts and an Alpina tuner in the '70 and early '80s. The relationship soured when Alpina became an official car manufacturer, rather than a tuner company. They wanted to ensure the Alpina brand was only applied to cars built by them or under license. The only company they licensed was Sytner in the UK, which did the RHD variants.

                          Not only were the a retailer for Alpina parts, but they also had a parts catalog of their own. I remember seeing a HB turbo for low compression M30's in the back of this month's Roundel.
