For all of you that want to heat or cut your springs...

    This is why you don't...

These springs were pulled from my buddy's '69 Suburban. The previous owner heated them to lower it. These things look like Roseanne Barr had 'em for a snack and spit 'em out. The suburban seriously feels like a new ride.

heating coiled metal to cut it? that's retarded.

Anyway, factory cuts them to size too, and custom coils are cut to size. You just have to do it right.

Dude looks like he put a torch to those while they were on the vehicle, that's tarded.

I've cut springs before, fronts on a Corolla, and there were no ill effects (rears were leaf). The coils were however evenly spaced throughout, making it possible. I cut 1 coil out with a cutoff wheel. Lowered it 2" and stiffened the spring a tad. That was 25 years ago. Went many years.

I got TMS J Stocks on my E30 now and 75% of the coils are fully compressed and bound. How is that better?

Its way easier to just heat them and jump up and down on the car... way less work that way.
