    WHAT would you doooo?

Ok, so a buddy of mine knows a guy who is selling a 1989 BMW 325i M-Tech II. Its Diamantschwarz and in OK shape. He sent me a few pictures, and its paint is faded on the hood/roof/trunklid. He has "racing" seats and the ODO doesnt work. Supposedly the odometer JUST stopped working a couple of weeks ago, but shows 89,xxx miles. It is a true euro model brought over from Germany.

I ran a Carfax on the VIN and it shows within the past 6 months or so, "TITLE#, EXCLUDED/EXEMPT" 3 times. What does that mean? The owner says he doesnt know the history of the car very well.

For $2,000, would this be an OK deal or should I try to bring him down a bit? WWJD?

Oh yea, the dash is cracked and theres a 1" bit of rust beneath the left rear tail light. The A/C doesnt work and the front lip is missing from the rest of the vehicle...but all the other M-Tech II stuff is there. Crank windows/sunroof with a cloth interior. No OBC, it has a clock. Euro cluster, but in MPH and not in KPH.

I'm a BMW mechanic by trade, so fixing a few random things isnt out of the question for me....I'm just looking for a ballpark figure of what ya'll think this car is worth.

I think $2K just might be a decent price, car sounds kind of rough, but nicer than 90% of the E30s on here, or on the road.

Stuff I hate spending money on:

        Ellipsoids
        Paint
        Dashboard
        Seats
        LSD
        Driveshaft
        Rear Subframe bushings

Seems to me these are major things that are both fairly expensive and a pain in the ass.

        Closing SOON!

yea the owner said he is hearing a "low speed thumping noise" in the cabin. I'm thinking its the center bearing for the driveshaft, so I dont know. I might offer him a little less than the $2k, and see if he goes for it.

there are all the pictures I've seen.

By the way, it's not really a MtechII, it just has the rear spolier. There's quite a bit more to the kit, so don't let him try and jack the price up selling it as a MtechII car.

The rear spoiler, the side pieces, the bumper covers..

What's not M Technic about it?

Looks like it has everything except the front valence/bumper to me.

I would go for it. Finding genuine mtech2 kits in the states is getting harder and harder(you can easily pay just as much for a new one), and sourcing misc grommets and clips can be pretty annoying. If this is the look you want, a lot of the work is already done for you.

On top of that, just about any e30 you buy at that price is gonna need some maintenance. As long as nothing MAJOR is wrong with it(check for rust underneath the car), I'd say it's a pretty good deal considering the parts it has.

                    Offer 1750. Why not?

It looks tired but does in fact look like M tech II parts... I doubt the mileage story honestly given the condition it is in.

I would go $1500 first just in case you get lucky, and if not you might be able to meet him in the middle at $1750 for the deal.

                      I would go for it...

I'd go for it. You could part it worst case and its in horrible shape. Could get a good amount for mtech 2 kit alone.

yea i'm checking out the car on Tuesday. im gonna shoot for $1750 or so, but I've already talked him down to $2000 anyways. I know most 20 year old cars will have problems, and I'm def interested in this look, so hopefully everything he has said it needs so far is really all it needs. I'll keep ya'll updated tho. it feels like ive been looking forever for an e30!

also, any chance that paint could be buffed out at all? it looks like the sides arent too horrible, but who knows. I'll try to get some pics of it next week.
