I didn't read any posts but the first one so forgive me if this has already been posted but...
Premium vs regular is a cool topic. I have done my own tests and concluded that even on an old M30 running a top tier premium over regular nets me about 2mpg on average. My grandmother got 3mpg in her '98 Ford Escort (lol) and my dad gained 2 in his '79 euro converted 6 series. When you work it out, gaining 2mpg by running premium barely costs you anything over the cost of filling up with regular when you consider that a) The cost difference between regular and premium is only about 5% and b) gaining 2mpg in a car that averages 23mpg in the city is a gain of over 8% efficiency.
