Starter... alternator issue...

m30 is in the e30 and im starting to get everything tucked away but im having a strange issue... when the alternator is wired (big and little wire) the starter stays engaged when the car is running. if i remove one wire or the other (big or little) the issue stops... any thoughts????

I had this issue on one of my Fords and it ended up being the crank position sensor. (I don't know if the M30 has one.)

i had a wire connected wrong... all fixed thank you for the response tho
