    Is there a plug..

When I was at the dealership, they plugged into the under hood plug with their tablet and pulled up all the engine data-reset codes, etc. Is there a plug adaptor to USB or something out there that will interface with a laptop running diagnostic software? I know there is an OBDII adaptor for in the car, but I was wondering about the circular one under the hood. I thought about running it to my small ASUS IEEE laptop and have it available to review engine data on the road

    Thanks,

So you are basically wanting to look at a data stream of a Motronic 1.3 system?

Specifically yours, while driving, I assume.

Keep in mind that these things are so old and so unpopular that very little tricks like this are around. But, you have my curiosity piqued, so I am gonna look into it too.

Yes there is a PC based interface...

Not cheap though... and the live data info is very limited on DME 1.3

It seemed after the S52 swap, there was a lot of data coming from that port to the tech's tablet-harmonics, etc. I thought it would be cool to see and review live engine data from road on the small 6" laptop. Thanks for checking...

Yeah, I would assume the later ECUs have far more going on in the data stream.

On all the OBD2 stuff you can look at the data like a standalone, its pretty sweet.
