In all honesty that is far more humane than when the farmers poison them

I cant believe they are marketing videos of Prarie Dog Hunting. We drive a few hours and do that in person for just the cost of ammo. Ive done the Maximum Carnage thing myself before I bought a 22-250. I just used a 7mm Magnum BTSP and it did the same thing. I didnt do that long before getting the 250 because my frigging shoulder hurt after 40+ rounds.
        Im now E30less.

I have never shot a prairie dog, but my dad, uncle and I have shot a couple meerkats in Botswana with a 3" .577 Nitro Express and 750g rounds. This is a rifle intended for taking down hippo, buffalo, and lion. The kind of rifle that can dislocate a shoulder. It makes quite a mess of a 5lb meerkat.

          Should've taken some film :x

When setup correctly, that is a sweet ass rifle. We used a custom 7mm mag with copper jacket 90gr match ammo at around 1/4 mile away. The prairie dogs literally exploded. At that distance it was too hard to see what was actually happening even with the binos/scope. The devastation was quite clear when we walked into Dog Town and found pieces strewn all over the place.

My buddy Chris in Norway built a new toy. Unfortunately, since it is in Norway, I doubt I'll ever get to try it out:

Where you are going, I am quite sure you will find something fun to play with.

In regards to the video, it sure made me nostalgic for the good ol' days growing up in Montana.

Sorry moderator, I forgot about the feminization of America that is going on. Everyone will have to rely on the fake Hollywood movies rather than Channel 5 news in Iraq.

this thread is about exploding gophers, not exploding iraqis

If the fact that I dont want to see a person getting shot in a thread about laughing at exploding rodents makes me a waffleswaffleswaffleswaffleswaffles, oh well. Labels own I suppose

Yeah its messy but it just makes the Coyote's lives easier.

William whos upper and barrel does he have on that? I thought about building a badass long AR but I probably wouldnt have much use for is since I have a built Tikka Continental for small game.

I might build me a full-auto Carbine in the future just to have and for burning semi-cheap 5.56 out in the boonies.

As for the 7mm I would have to agree with you. Its a bit overkill for Whitetail but I use it most for clearing rangeland in West Kansas for some friends. Muledeer can be a bit more beefy and I am less concerned about blowing 20lbs of the shoulder off than I am about having a quick humane kill. I give the venicen to them, I dont like it.

I mostly hunt pest animals, Its more just target pratice for me than the thrill of the hunt. If I want that I will use my bow.

I don't know who made the upper receiver, but I do know that the barrel is from Colt with a 9:1 twist. The exterior of the barrel was machined privately (?) and nickel plated. He also talked about using a smaller ID gas tube for a faster reaction of the bolt, but I don't know if he has done that yet.

The 7mm magnum is a great whitetail/antelope rifle in "the plains" states where distances tend to creep up to 800 meters. Using as 55gr bullet in a 7mm mag you can be very accurate up to around 1000 meters depending on wind. The longer distance also makes it very challenging. A little 55gr bullet probably won't easily bring down a big mule deer though. We always tried to stay under 100gr when distances were around 400 meters or more (also depending on the game). Probably my favorite and probably the cheapest rifle that I favor is the old stand by brush gun Winchester .30-.30 lever action with iron sites. You never have to clean it or worry about it. It will always fire.
