    e30 319i on the road

I have been driving it for about 3 days now, seems to run fine, idle is just jumpy. I know most people would just say drive until it dies, but i want this to last a while. I was just wondering how these cars were designed to be driven? mine is an auto which sucks, but i read that they are high revving engines, what that means i am not sure. Do they like to be driven hard or should i take it easy on the 24 year old m10?
i have read these engines are bulletproof, any merit to that? i have no history on this engine, dont know when anything has been replaced other then what i have done, plugs , fluids, gas tank , exhaust, suspension etc. there are no leaks at all, thats a plus, just need some opinions and advice.

seafoam. try that and go from there, i had idle surging and that went away as soon as i dropped some seafoam in.
