    Bleh.

    Bristol Grey, black interior.

Didn't buy it. It was close, but no cigar. The rockers had a bit of rust-through in a few places, and there a couple of perfed rust spots in the rear quarters and trunk floor. Had a handful of surface rust spots, but overall the car wasn't horrible. The rear shock towers looked really good, and the floors were solid also.

Hooked a battery up and it turned over, but no fire. Compression felt/sounded good. Radiator was full of antifreeze/rusty water, seats looked OK.

I took my camera, but forgot to take the memory card (left it in the printer). I took some pics with the owner's camera, and he's supposed to email them to me.

When I told him I would have to pass, he kept asking me if I wanted to talk to you. When you called, I was leaving, and I honestly thought he was going to follow me out to the street and make me talk to you.

The owner is a real character.

I sent you a PM on that other forum. If you have any questions about the car, I'll be happy to tell you what I saw.

          So, why did you pass?

Sounds like the car was well worth the money.

I'm in the middle of remodeling a house i bought last year, and it's sucking up all my disposable income. I also have a project e30 vert, 5.5 vintage Honda Mini Trail projects and I'm trying to get our other e30 vert ready to sell. Our e46 vert needs new wheels, and my garage is jam packed with dirt bikes, house tools & supplies, and the previously mentioned 7.5 projects.

The 1600 would be a good car for someone who's into them, or someone who can devote the time & money to restore it. If I bought it, it would sit outside under a tarp until my ducks form a single file.

I have no idea how long that will take. I'd rather see the car go to a good home and get some immediate TLC. It's a deal at $300.

so it sounds like you never intended to buy it.

                      You're right.

I borrowed a trailer, bought an $85 tire for the trailer, and then spent $70 in gas to drive 2.5 hours each way and did *not* intend to buy it.

It's in Atlanta. Somebody's already purchased it.

I figured. Oh well, I wouldnt have had the time to make the 13 hour trip anyway. Would have been nice to have though... slowly restore and build into an Alpina widebody (nevermind the rarity of the parts). Like this one:

I've seen this car in person a few times... and the stance of it is just beautiful. The owner of that place bought it a couple of years ago for $500. I forgot how he stumbled upon it, but the story goes... he asked the seller how much he wanted for it. The guy said 7. Thinking that the seller meant 7 grand... he offered him "5." The seller turns around and goes... "alright i'll take 500."

That's my favorite kind of story.

I'd like to have a lightly massaged 2002 or 1600, but right now they're not even on my top ten list.

Today I bought a 4-stroke backpack leaf blower with the 1600 money. I hate that shit. :|

I recently sold my 73 rusty but trusty roundie '02, car ran and drove like a really tight car, lowered on sachsboge/eibachs and 15" rb's. Then... along came a buddy of mine who offered to trade me a primo set of 15" BBS rs's ... the rest is history.

sometimes, you just gotta let it go.....
