    FX35 problem...

Alright, so I have a buddy who has an FX35 who spilled about 3-4 gallons of pure Reverse osmosis water in the rear trunk compartment. Ever since then he said his stop lights wont go off. Ive told him to blow dry the area, since that may be the problem. He said he did, and it didnt resolve anything.

What would you guys recommend? I dont know much about cars, and Im going to have to go help him right now.

Hmmm, If he lies he may get it warrantied. I work for Nissan/BMW and we dont warranty shit like that if its the owners fault. I guess if he doesnt mention his spill, he should be fine..

Exactly, the dealership's pretty good about electrical stuff except for the battery, which they prorate it. But things like lights and gauges and stuff, they should handle it with no problems.

-you'll prob have to take apart the taillight/harness assemblies and dry those out.

-an why does it matter if it's "reverse osmosis" water?

No water spots. LOL. When i swaped taillights on my buddies fx theyu appear to be in a location that could not get damaged by spilling water. Mayber trace the wires back to see if there is some kind of LED voltage reducer box thingy.

I've spilled water in the back of my dad's FX35 (2005) before and never had any sort of problem before. Could it just be coincidence?

It matters if its reverse osmosis to make it clear that it wasnt saltwater. I guess its irrelevant on this forum, but Im a reef tank guy, so normally salty would be there. He fucking drenched his whole rear compartment lol. I took off his interior side panels, and they were full of water. His bose unit above the spare tire was drenched, his spare tire was in water. I think theres just water somewhere in the system.

Holy shit, he doesn't need a hair dryer. He needs to disassemble the back (like everything that you care about) and let it completely dry. Don't even try to diagnose shit until it's dry.

yea wow, thats a lot of water. Good thing is was pure water!

+1 on the disassembly and long, good dry. Smaller items you can stick on the oven on LOW (under 200 deg F) to aid. Everthing else, leave them out in the sun and fresh air.
