    W00t for speeding tickets

    So I got a ticket, 61 in a 40, was knocked down to 45 in a 40.

its a 71 dollar ticket, should I even bother trying to defer this thing?

Also, in the comments he wrote clock at 61, but it put down vehicle speed as 45, was a nice cop, just doing his job, so i'm not wanting to go after him and start complaining.

I have a vacation coming up in a week, and I don't want my court date to conflict with the date of my trip,

The cost does not bother me, its only 71 bucks, however for insurance purposes should I even bother trying to fight it? i'm going to admit speeding, I just don't want it on my insurance.

I am calling my insurance carrier (liberty mutual) to ask them tommorrow about what potential increases I may incur, however if its small or nothing i may just say fuck it.

    so what should I do?

BTW the road was a parkway that everybody pretty much does 60 on, except this time a damn motorcycle cop was hiding, in the 2 years I have driven that road i have never seen a cop. Sadly I was in my beater that didn't have the radar installed at the time.

BTW I don't care if you think I should just suck it up, I admit to speeding, I am paying my fine, that does not bother me, its just the insurance.

so tickettiers, lemme know what you think

haha court dates wont show up for months! I got a ticket on April 1st, and it was only dropped on July 21st! You're good to go on a trip without worrying.

For 45 on a 40, there's a lot to fight for, like speedo accuracy ( if you were paced ), and a lot more. Plus the chance the cop wont even show up.

I say fight it.... I already have a ticket in my record, my 2nd and 3rd were taken to court and they were both dropped. Never again will I pay the cost without a fight.

Well I was clocked at 21mph over the speedlimit, he just lowered it,

my only question is will insurance see that its a 45 in a 40, or a speeding ticket raise the rates now!!!!! etc

Well my insurance was a bitch and 1/2. Another reason why I decided to fight everything from now on.

When I got my first ticket, I decided to go to traffic school so insurance wouldnt go up. Turns out insurance companies give a "discount" for people who have no tickets. Although you went through traffic school so rates wouldnt go up, the insurance company can still take off that discount, making prices go higher.

I had the worst experience with getting a ticket. If the cop marked it as a 45 on a 40, I doubt he could say much in court. It's what's written on the paper that matters.

Yeah I see your point, a small increase does not bother me, as I already get a damn good discount its not a real biggie to me.

But the fact that he wrote clocked at 61 in a 40 in the comments section is what is going to hurt me I think,

I say don't fight it. The cop was already nice and fighting it would just piss him off and lead to him wanting to pull you over every chance he gets in the furture. Cops in your town DO remember you, trust me on that one. I say just pay it and take traffic school.

When I went into court, before the actual court casings happened, the officer asked if I wanted to pay the fine now, and lose the points off my licesnce by pleading guilty.

I pleaded guilty, and they dropped the points, and I paid the fine. Only thing that bothered me was they didn't tell me it would add on $10 to the fine.

Nevertheless, my insurance won't go up.

I think the best way is to pay your ticket

I was doing 160 on a road with a 120 speed limit (kph) and it cost me a 1200 euro's
I've paid the ticket and everything was over
I've not even showed me at the court

James, you should know not to speed down Ruston, but I say pay the ticket and just get it over with as long as insurance doesn't go up that much.

How to get out of a speeding ticket almost everytime:

If you are caught speeding with a radar gun, contact the police department with the name of the officer who clocked you that day, and find out what radar gun he was using that day in his car.

Then, request the calibration records for that radar gun. (you can do this, the maintainence records for any city, state or county equipment are availble to the public at any time for any reason)

Radar guns are to calibrated regularly for accuracy, and I can almost garauntee you that they aren't. Once you request these records, if they aren't current, they city won't ever even send them to you, and will drop the speeding charge against you.

If you think this won't work, it does. 3 of my friends in different cites have done it, and never had to pay the ticket, and it never showed up on their records.

James, I don't reccomend this for you, since you got a break, but this DOES work.

always go to court... you have nothing to lose, but something to gain.

it doesnt make a damn difference if cop goes go court or not. he's working, its just time off from his regular routine going to the court house. around here they don't even go to court. there's a huge line to talk to the procecuter 'n he cuts everyone deals left 'n right. just a huge scam to raise $$ for the town.

scared of the cop? it is your **right** to go to court if you want to. you are doing him no disservice.

i dont know about where you live, but around here (NJ) there's a minimum 2 points for any moving violation. these are points on your license, the insurance company sees the ticket and makes their own judgement for how many "points" they will give you. this incident will most likely be a "freebie" if you have an otherwise clean record.

Is that true for all insurance companies? Well thats good to know....

Suck it up and pay for it. Use it as a learning curve. Slow down, if a kid or I was on a bicycle or a walker you might have hit em.

People are just getting outrageous with driving 45mph in zones that are marked residential or 30mph. Slow down give people a break plan for added traffic and leave ten minutes earlier.

This is my pet peeve sorry for rant. But I have kids too.

What is reported to Insurance agency is speeding. That is all.
