Just filled up the 'vert. 215 miles (1/4 left), 10.76 gallons. Comes out to 20 mpg exactly. That was about 80% freeway, 20% city.

I got over 28 out of my last tank of gas, and I was flogging it.

I get mid-high 20s in my eta with mixed driving and 19-20 in my turbo car (tho i did get 16 last tank...). I never got above 20mpg in my 325is pre turbo with in town only.

How much of an effect does heavier wheels/tires have? My 17" kopis w/ tires weigh in at 44.5 lbs each, my basketweaves are 34.5. Could that make a big difference in mpg?

I am currently averaging 21.7-22.1 according to the OBC depending on how much I get on the highway. Most of my driving is backroads with minimal stop and go.
My current 93 cabby has 97K on it and runs much much better than my previous 93 cabriolet which consistanly averaged around 19MPG per the OBC.

I'm getting 36-37mpg in my '85 coupe with M42, G260, and eta rear diff.

                  70mph @ 23-2400rpm. To work/back is 134mi. 3.6gal.

I checked my mpg over a trip the wife and I did to the North Carolina mountains over the holiday weekend. I averaged 25.5 mpg over several tankfuls. This was mostly 70-80mph highway with some mountain driving too, air con blasting, with two people, trunk loaded.

Aaron, if I had your hot car I would get 13mpg just like my Explorer. Cant wait for some suspension work.

Wow, that's pretty good. It sounds like 20 mpg is kinf of normal for these things :( oh well, that's why it's my 'fun' e30 :)

My OBC may lie but I don't think my odo is. 411 miles on a tank (the best I've done) is 28 mpg combined.

Can have a direct impact, although not usually that large. Swap wheels for a couple weeks and check it.
