The best spacers you can use yes are dealer items or find them by taking off the non airbag steering wheel on some e30's in a salvage yard. You can use fender washers as well but you will have to make the center hole larger while staying with a washer that is not very large in outside diameter. Plus if you went with the washers they make a ton of noise when turning the wheel. The oem spacers are best as only two are needed and do not make any noise.
There are some other threads on here about how to take the airbag wheel off as well.
Didn't mean to sound so harsh with my search comment, but honestly everything e30 has been discussed in great depth on here, so you should find the answers to everything with some searching and reading.
