    Finally busted an oil pan...

So tonight I hit a huge unavoidable dip in the road. more like a 8x8 foot square cut in the road with a manhole sticking up in the middle... totally busted the pan. oil all over the road...:x:x:x

I'm so heated right now i wanna fucking hit a cop. Honestly fuck the city of Los Angeles. They couldn't even put up a sign warning people about this shit... You think I could get away with having the city pay for the damages? I might just tell them the internals are all fucked up and I need a new motor.

What do I do now? Tell me how you fixed your problem when you busted your pan...

Thanks for hearing me out guys.

Uh, chill the fuck out kid. You want to punch a cop because you're not careful enough to see obstacles in the road?

Anyways, it's pretty obvious what you need to do. Replace the pan and possibly the sump depending on how much of a retard you are. Also, considering your intelligence level, you may have let the engine run for a significant period of time which would mean you need to send the car to the wrecker and buy a hyundai.

well, rather than insulting your intelligence and kicking you while you're down after a shitty night... I can definitely say that if the road was torn up because it was being worked on and there really was no warning sign telling you so, then hell yes you can get the city to pay for it. you have to be persistent with your case though.
there was a guy on here not too long ago that hit a raised manhole cover in his corrado and cashed out on it. albeit a few months later because they dicked him around, but he got like four or five thousand dollars for his claims. I think there was even a road warning sign in his case, but I can't remember for sure.

sucks to hear it man. when I had sealed beam headlights (and even now sometimes with ellipsoids), stuff like raised manhole covers and potholes were really hard to see until it was totally too late to avoid them. there are a few around my town that you really need to memorize or they are unavoidable. dips are the only thing that really stand out to me from far enough away to be able to react.

What the hell does hitting a cop have to do with anything? Actually, that might be a good idea, then you'll get a shit kicking LAPD style.

I can see the sign now "If you're car is stupid low, swerve into the other lane!"

You got no case. Friend of mine hit a large chunk ofconcrete in the middle of the 215 freeay with his 911. It did $15000 in damage and the judge threw the case out of court.

wow I never knew people could be such ass holes. I'm not an idiot. It's not because I wasn't careful... I can't see shit with my stock headlights. But I still think there should be a sign or something. I came on here for a little sympathy because it will probably be a while till I can fix my car. For the most part all I got was assholes

Not to sure about that story but the way it usually work is unless you leave your car in that hole where the damage took place and get a cop to come out and write a report the city will take no responsibility, Because there is no proof that it was the city's fault and not yours. For all they know you could have hit a curb and just trying to get out of a bill. GL to you though..but prepare for disappointment if you're going that route.

This would be correct, something dumped in the middle of the road is your loss. A condition left by a construction crew is another thing all together in California. Google up the California DOT website and find your district for so-cal, look for the on-line ( yes ) form for claims and fill it out. It will take a while to get your cash so save those receipts.:D
