I do not know about there, but in wa. when the car is repaired you
take the bill of sale from the insurance company and the car with reciepts
for all parts to the state patrol for inspection. take their paper work
with yours to the license agency and apply for a new title. Now the new title will probably say rebuild or salvaged on it, but the car is old enough it may not. You get emissions test and license. But thats how it works in Wa. Hope it is about the same there. Looks like EASY fix.

In CA it's pretty easy - you just apply for a duplicate title. Show the DMV your paperwork from the purchase.

Call the DMV, find out how to get a duplicate title, then get to work.

And get rid of the slushbox while you're at it. ;)

in WI if its a salvage you can get it inspected. no title or bill of sale means no plates

What about a lien sale? I've never heard of a state that didn't have a way for a shop to get their money out of a car if the person refused to pay for it. I've bought a couple lien-saled cars where the person who sold it to me got it because someone either never picked up their repair or just told them to "get rid of it." It's a completely legal way for you to get ownership of it, assuming you have a business license.

From the looks of the writing on the windshield, you bought it at an insurance auction. By not giving you a title, it is probably the Ins. Co. or the DMV's way of saying "this car is for parts, not to be put back on the road". Find the owner (may be reg. in the car - run the vin thru DMV ask DMV for a copy of the last smog, call in some favors, you can do this) & get the original title from him, even if you have to buy it. Then you can put it back on the road, or sell it as a whole car.

What is the vin # ??
