    New guy in NC...

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've been looking around and reading some tech articles here ever since I bought my e30 last month. This is my first foray into older bmw's but I have been an avid bmw owner for the last 8 yrs. I just purchased an '87 325is that needs a little work, but nothing that can't be achieved with a little time and money. When you see the pics I'm sure some of you will point out the lack of spoiler and basketweaves that are found on "is" cars. I did have the vin # busted out and it showed that the car originally had the weaves and spoiler but they were lost somewhere during its 21 yr history. The muffler was also just recently replaced with some cheap crap but at least it works for now. Now on to the pics.
the day i brought it home

one week later already in the shop

i'll post more pics when the body work is complete. also if anyone has any basketweaves i'm looking to get a set with or without tires.

    Thanks
    and the restore begins...

Great start. Looks like a solid body to work with. Keep the pictures coming as project progresses.

Hey new guy. Theres a couple more of us greensboro folks around. Aptyp, Jbrantley i think...I love the project. You'll see a green 2002 in the city. That's me. Aptyp has schnitzer kit on a delfin car, amongst others. We should meet up some time.

I think I've seen your username on NCEuro a few times. Good to see you've made your way over here, you have a pretty solid looking car. I am located in Hickory (1.5 hours west of you,) so hit me up if you ever need any small/random E30 bits.

wait, iS, that front spoiler is definitely early eS style? Anyway, nice iS if that's what you got. I will still be the only eS rolling around here.

Single exhaust pipe? not original muffler on iS? I am so confused. Everything I see makes me think its a late 85 production 86 325eS.

after talking to the guys at nceuro we decided that it was an IS car. if i'm wrong than by all means let me know.

as far as the body work, its being done by a guy who does some work for my company and some of the dealers in the area like don heath auto. he doesn't really advertise, he just kind of does his thing when he wants too. as far as price goes he's doing a lot of work for just a little bit of money. i'm staying with bronzit and i know how most of you guys feel about it but it doesn't bother me and i don't want to have to worry with having different colors in my door jams and under the hood. not to mention if i ever have to sell it then it will be worth more as a original color car.

after i get it back from the body shop the suspension is going to go in. i went with bilsteins and with vogtland springs. all new control arms, bushings, strut mounts, tie rods and even a new e36 m3 steering rack(b/c my current one is leaking) i have to replace the guibo and the center driveshaft bearing as well. like i said earlier i'd also like to put some weaves on it too. hopefully i'll have most of it done by the end of next week.

thanks again for the warm welcome and any advice or knowledge is greatly appreciated and certainly welcome. unless you tell me that bronzit sucks and then in that case:finger:
